“TOURIST DESTINATIONS”

By: Media Relations Office

The Cagayan Economic Zone Authority has taken significant strides in creating awareness on the tourism areas of the Cagayan Freeport. PALAUI ISLAND  has gained media attention as must-go beach and island destinations. The production of Survivor: Cagayan and Survivor: Blood vs Water in the Cagayan Freeport showcased the tourism attractions of not just the Freeport but also the Cagayan Province. Furthermore, Palaui Island was given the distinction of being among the top ten beach and island destinations in the world in 2013 by CNN Travel.

Other flourishing destinations found in Santa Ana, Cagayan are the following:

CAPE ENGAÑO LIGHTHOUSE- A historic Spanish lighthouse completed in 1892 and is located in the north end of Palaui Island. It once served as the guiding light from the Pacific to the extreme northeast point of Luzon, and the channel between the Babuyan Islands

DOS HERMANAS – Seen from the northernmost tip of Palaui, two steep rock formations emerge from the sea

CAPE ENGAÑO COVE- A 4-kilometer white sand and coral beach lie at the north tip of Palaui

BARATUBUT FALLS- It is a 30-meter high and a 3 tiered waterfalls that is known to be majestic and cascading

CASAGAN RIVER- Located just 15 minutes away from Centro, Santa Ana and is one of the filming locations for “Survivor: Blood vs. Water”. The eco-adventure experience that awaits you in Casagan is kayaking in the serene waters of Tangatan River amid clusters of mangrove forests where migratory birds are sited

DUMASAG RIVER- A site ideal for agri-tourism. Nestled at the foot of the Sierra Madre, Dumasag features a river for thrill seekers and casual tourists as well. A cliff dive of about 20 feet is one of the attractions available for adventurous tourists.

POZO ROBO– is a 53 hectare area blessed with a long stretch of white sand beach and thriving flora and fauna, perfect for local and foreign tourists that would feature its northern shoals as well as an adventure valley. (Michelle Agabin)
